The Lane lives on within our new stadium

When fans step onto the concourses at our new stadium for the first time there will be a huge part of the Club’s history beneath your feet.

Initial dull, grey concrete mixtures for the flooring within these areas did not achieve what the Club considered to be the right look and feel for such an important part of the stadium – where fans will gather before that special moment they enter the bowl ready for kick-off.

So, crushed aggregate was mixed in to the new concrete.

The result – a beautiful, shiny bronze finish throughout the concourses that not only complements the world-class venue’s light and modern feel, but, importantly, also means that the Lane is now part of the very fabric of our new stadium… because the crushed aggregate comes from the foundations of our beloved former home, White Hart Lane.

Our old home is literally embedded in our new home.

One man for whom this means a huge amount is Ledley King – our Ambassador and legendary former captain who led the team out at the Lane on numerous occasions during his one-Club, 323-appearance playing career between 1999 and 2012.

Ledley has walked the new concourses for the first time as construction on our new stadium continues and excitement builds ahead of its opening.

He said: “The Lane was home to me and so many others for most of my life – so what I am doing is effectively walking on memories.

“It’s amazing to think how taking aggregate from the foundations of that special place can create something so beautiful and fitting that we see today – just looking at it makes me a bit emotional.

“This is another example of how this incredible new stadium will really feel like home for all of us and shows that, as much as we are now about to enter into what is such an exciting new era for this Club and the area, our past will always be with us and the legacy of the Lane lives on.”
