The Club would like to express its gratitude to our special tour sponsors, Standard Chartered Bank, for their for their superb backing on our trip to South Korea.
Standard Chartered have recently merged with Korean First Bank and the ideal behind our tour partnership is to promote the teamwork ethic - so important in both sport and business.
The players have taken part in a number of events organised by the bank, including coaching clinics for the children of the bank's staff and customers and a penalty shoot-out which raised 10,000,000 won each for the charities 'Seeing is Believing' and the 'Korean Foundation for World Aid'. All of these events generated huge media coverage across South Korea.
Our team shirts have also carried the Standard Chartered logo in our Peace Cup 2005 matches and we would like to thank main sponsors Thomson for their cooperation with this.
"Standard Chartered's support on our tour of South Korea has been fantastic," said Executive Director Paul Barber. "The various events we attended gave our players and staff the opportunity to mix with the bank's staff, customers and children.
"Everyone enjoyed taking part in the coaching clinics, penalty shoot-out and the players even had the chance to pose for pictures behind the counter at a branch, where they also signed autographs for children from a local orphanage sponsored by the bank.
"The Club would like to thank Standard Chartered Bank and all its staff for their support on what has been an extremely memorable trip that we hope continues through to the Peace Cup final on Sunday."
