Gary Mabbutt, Club Ambassador, joined David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, Cllr David Browne, Deputy Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Alan Strickland, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Social Inclusion, and members of the Tottenham Traders Partnership in a procession along Tottenham High Road on Saturday to celebrate the launch of the ‘I Love Tottenham’ initiative.

The 'I Love Tottenham' initiative is designed to encourage people back onto the Tottenham High Road following August’s civil unrest and, in doing so, provide much needed trade for local business affected by the troubles.

Saturday’s launch saw residents of all ages take to the streets and engage with local traders in a colourful celebration of the community.

Gary said: “Everyone at the Club was deeply saddened by the events that took place earlier in the summer and are fully committed to helping the community move forward.

“As a Club we take a very active role in our local community both as an organisation and through the work of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. We have over 20 ongoing projects in place across Haringey alone, and are therefore delighted to be working with Haringey Council on a project such as this that is designed to bring much needed trade to local businesses.

“The Club will be working in partnership with Haringey Council and the Tottenham Traders to support this campaign, encouraging our fans to support the local area by arriving early to home matches and do whatever they can to help our local traders.”

As part of the Club’s continued commitment to the local community, Tottenham Hotspur is launching its own ‘Tickets for Tottenham’ initiative, as a further gesture to help bring the community together. As part of this initiative, we will be inviting those most affected by the recent civil unrest, including staff from local traders, Haringey Council, the emergency services and workers from the Sony Distribution Centre in Enfield, to attend the upcoming Europa League match against Rubin Kazan as our guests.on Thursday, October 20.

A special Members’ Discount was also offered at the Spurs Megastore on Tottenham High Road over the weekend to mark the launch of ‘I Love Tottenham’ and to attract more fans to the area.
