As part of the Club’s on-going commitment to tackling issues related to discrimination and inequality, tonight’s game is dedicated to supporting Football People.

The Football People action weeks, which take place from 9 – 23 October, are the largest intervention against discrimination in football. The campaign is run by Fare – an international organisation that aims to tackle discrimination through football’s inclusive power.

Linking into the Club’s support for the Football People action weeks, our official LGB&T Supporters Club, Proud Lilywhites, hosted a panel discussion on diversity in football at the Lane this week.

Panellists speaking at the event included Kick It Out’s Troy Townsend, Women In Football’s Jo Tongue, Claudia Krobitzsch from Fare and Co-Chair of Proud Lilywhites, Darryl Telles.

Using a Question Time format, panellists and guests were invited to discuss a number of issues challenging discrimination and promoting inclusivity in football. Sitting amongst the audience included newly appointed Proud Lilywhites Patron, Helen Richardson-Walsh, the England and GB hockey player who won a bronze medal during the London 2012 Olympics.

Troy Townsend said: “Being so closely connected to the Club as a supporter, it gives me great satisfaction to see Tottenham Hotspur supporting Football People, and the progressive association of the Club and Proud Lilywhites.”
