Club launches School Sports Programme in Brent

Thu 21 September 2017, 17:35|Tottenham Hotspur

The Club has launched a Primary School Sports Programme for Brent as part of our community engagement work in the Borough during our season at Wembley.

Davinson Sanchez today appeared at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School – a stone’s throw from the national stadium – to launch the Programme and take part in a sample football-based PE lesson with delighted students.

The Programme will operate in 24 Brent Primary Schools during the current academic year with two specialist Development Coaches from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation based in the Borough full-time to deliver either football or a variety of sports depending on the PE curriculum.

After-school football clubs for girls will also be delivered, as well as an end-of-term tournament for all participating schools. Ticket competitions around home matches and Junior membership giveaways will be available for football-loving students throughout the year.

Nikki Kelly, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We are delighted to launch our School Sports Programme in Brent, one of the many ways in which the Club will be active within the local community during our season at Wembley.

“This is an extension of the similar work that the Club has been delivering in schools across North London for many years, which has proven hugely successful given the positive impact our coaches have on young people, encouraging physical activity during school time and assisting teachers in their delivery.

“The programme is expected to engage between 2,500 – 3,000 young people in Brent during the current academic school year and we hope to provide as many students as possible with the chance to come and watch Spurs play at Wembley.”
