Club buys Mackay's double medals

Posted on 21 September 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The club has bought Dave Mackay's double-winning medals.

The golden pair - Dave's FA Cup and League Championship medals from 1961 - were auctioned earlier today by Sotheby's and we moved quickly to ensure that they returned to White Hart Lane.

"Once we heard that they were for sale we had to have them," said Spurs press officer John Fennelly. "There is no better home for them."

The medals will now form the centrepiece of the club's proposed new museum at the Lane.
