Clive Allen paid tribute to the application of his side after the 1-0 win over West Ham at Stevenage on Monday evening.

At 79 minutes in what was a really close fought encounter, Johnnie Jackson stamped his mark on proceedings with a run and measured chip over visiting keeping Jimmy Walker and the ball nestled snugly in the back of the net.

It is a result that puts us ten points clear at the top of the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South.

"I am delighted with the patience the lads showed and the workrate they put in against a very experienced West Ham team," reflected Clive after the win. "They came with a side looking for a victory - no doubt of that in my mind - and we coped with the problems they caused us.

"We limited their opportunities and I am just disappointed we didn't take the one or two other good chances we created. It was a worthy winner, a spectacular goal from Johnnie and he has that ability. He produced at a crucial time."
