Clive Allen believes our reserves have raised the bar in terms of performance after the fine win against Leicester City on Monday night.
Lee Barnard bagged his third and fourth goals in three games, Rodrigo Defendi netted his first for the club and Rohan Ricketts scored a fine individual effort as we ran out convincing 4-1 winners at Kettering Town's Rockingham Road.
"It's always a difficult one when you look at the opposition and Matt Elliott apart, it was a young Leicester side because they can be the harder games," reflected Clive.
"The lads went about it in an excellent fashion and for the first 40 minutes it was as good as we've played this season.
"We went 2-0 up but there are things to be be learnt in that we switched off for the last 10 minutes and were punished with the first real attack against us.
"Leicester would have felt they had a chance at half-time and with a young side, they were always going to keep going.
"So I was delighted with how we picked it up again. We produced excellent finishing, some high-quality play and the lads set high standards. Overall I would say that's our best performance this season."
