Clive Allen saluted another enterprising and entertaining display from his reserve side against Portsmouth on Monday evening.
Goals from Lee Barnard and Spase Dilevski sealed a 2-0 victory that could have been more, but it was the manner performance that most pleased the Development Coach.
"Very much so," agreed Clive. "Portsmouth made it a very good game, they were a young side that were very energetic and made it very difficult for us at times.
"I thought that when we played with quality we created chances, which was good to see - and took a couple as well.
"I thought it was a good result and a good performance."
It was a cohesive and fluent show from the second string, which is another bonus for Clive when he sees his work on the training ground come to fruition.
"We obviously work on a lot of passing and moving. Portsmouth changed to five in midfield very early to try and frustrate us, which meant us having to play with quality.
"At times I thought our quality was of the highest standard. Our boys work well together and the nucleus of our side is young - they are progressing nicely."
