Clint was on target alongside Gareth Bale in that impressive first half show and he was well aware of the ‘game of two halves’ nature of the victory.
“I thought we did a great job in the first half of moving the ball, keeping possession, creating chances and really wanted the third goal to kill off the game,” he said.
“In the second half, we knew if they scored it would be difficult. They did that, the crowd got behind them and it made for a very difficult game, but we showed a lot of character to grind out the result and get the points.
“If we want to finish where we want to finish this season we have to come and dig in and show character like we did today.
“You have to deal with being under pressure and be able to see it out and I thought we did a good job with that. In the future, we’ll look to get the third goal to kill it off.”
Having dominated the first half and led 2-0, the Saints came out fighting in the second half, reduced the deficit to 2-1 and forced us to defend to hold onto the three points.
