Clem's central perk

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Stephen Clemence finally paused for thought after a job well done against Coventry City and declared: “It’s been a funny 24 hours really.”

Stephen, back in his favoured central midfield position, played a key role in our convincing 3-0 win at the Lane, carving out a host of chances, making key contributions in our opening two goals and coming close to scoring himself on three occasions.

The thoroughly professional performance came just 24 hours after George Graham’s sudden departure as manager on the Friday.

‘Clem’ reflected: “When we left training on Friday the manager was still there. When I got home one of my mates phoned me, he’d looked on teletext and the manager had gone. We just had to focussed in on the job.”

The 22-year-old has always stated his preference for a midfield slot and was naturally delighted with how the game went on a personal level.

“I played part in the first two goals and probably could have scored a couple myself,” he said.

“At least I’m getting a few shots in and hopefully I’ll get on the scoresheet soon. I’m sure I’ll get one before the end of the season — my usual one a season!”
