Clem produced his usual all-action and combative type performance in the centre of our midfield and it was like he'd never been away.
"It's great to be back," he beamed. "It's been a long time out, eight months, so to come back in a big game was probably a little bit easier actually.
"Liverpool is always a big game and we got the result we needed."
The 24-year-old was forewarned of his return to the side and praised him team-mates for steering him through when tiredness began to set in.
"I knew a couple of days ago so I had a bit of time to prepare for it.
"I was delighted. The team have done brilliant and helped me through the first game because it's always a bit testing on the fitness. There was times when I was breathing quite heavy.
"I was well pleased to come through it and I'm delighted with the result.
"The lads worked hard though and defended as a team. We had Steffen Iversen back at the end putting in tackles and it's a great result for us."
Stephen Clemence could not hide his delight after coming through his first senior start since late August against Liverpool on Saturday.
