The midfielder has been out for over a year - returning briefly for two starts at the end of last season - with knee, groin and Achilles problems.
But he has trained fully for two weeks and will line-up for Colin Calderwood's team in the FA Premier Reserve League encounter at Dagenham & Redbridge's Victoria Road (7pm).
Gus Poyet, Stephen Carr and Les Ferdinand are also scheduled to play.
Boss Colin confirmed: "Steve Clemence is going to be involved for the first time this season.
"He's completed a fortnight of training with the rest of the first team group and he'll play for a period of the game and hopefully he'll come through okay.
"Steve's been a trojan in the gym and you just have your fingers crossed that he can now have a sustained period of playing football.
"Stephen Carr and Gus will also play after coming through last week and Les will play as well."
Squad: Burch, Carr, Henry, S Kelly, Marney, Bortolozzo, Ricketts, Poyet, Clemence, Ferdinand, Barnard, Slabber, Snee, Bowditch, Rutherford.
Stephen Clemence will return to action for the reserves against West Ham on Tuesday night.
