MULLERY RETURNS TO CLINCH GLORY
Dateline: May 17, 1972.
Venue: White Hart Lane.
Match: UEFA Cup Final, second leg, Tottenham Hotspur 1 Wolves 1 (aggregate 3-2).
In one of the great stories, Alan Mullery was recalled from a loan spell at Fulham to head home the vital goal in the second leg of the UEFA Cup Final.
Martin Chivers took the plaudits after grabbing both goals in our 2-1 win at Molineux in the first leg -the second one of our most famous goal, a screamer from 30 yards.
But Mullery was the man for the occasion in the second leg at the Lane, a diving header making sure we drew 1-1 and took the trophy 3-2 on aggregate.
