Our young Irishman was named on the substitute’s bench for the first time in the Premiership for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.
Now he has one final hurdle — to make his Premiership debut — and just one game, Manchester United at home on May 19, to achieve it this campaign.
The Northern Irish Under-21 star said: “It was brilliant to be involved and a great experience for me.
“It was exciting at the hotel when I was told I would be on the bench for the first time.
“It capped off what I think has been a good season for me. I’ve achieved everything I aimed for at the start of the season now.
“I wanted to build from establishing myself in the reserves but training with the first team, being called into the squad and now being on the bench has been brilliant. It was the icing on the cake for me.”
Another bonus for the 19-year-old has been the recent batch of reserve games played on Premiership soil — Highbury his next destination on Tuesday.
Ciaran Toner is one step away from the perfect season.
