Christian's bad hair day

Posted on 10 June 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Christian Ziege has shed his Mohican after suspecting that his hair was becoming more topical than the football.

Our German wingback was sporting the hairstyle in the colours of the German national flag - even though it was not a fashion statement that was pre-planned.

Christian tells us that his wife was shaving his hair off during the build-up to the World Cup and left a streak of hair - a la Beckham last summer - in the middle of his head. Then, as a joke, it was decided to dye the remaining hair in the colours of the German flag.

The joke has now worn off for Christian - and remaining hair is now shaved off.

"I just felt that people were starting to talk more about my hair than the football," sighed Christian.

"It was done for a bit of fun but, after the Ireland game, reporters started to take more notice of my hair in a bad way. I decided it was time to cut it off.

"If players from other countries, like England, do it they think it is cool. When one of ours does it they don't really like it and talk about it too much."

"So now it is off."
