The Danish playmaker admits it seems barely believable that he’s kicked-off his fourth season at the Club having arrived from Ajax in August, 2013.
Yet he’s already racked up 100 appearances in the Premier League and 134 in total, scoring 30 goals along the way…“It’s gone really quickly,” he said. “It’s my fourth season now and yet it doesn’t feel like that, it feels more like a second season and it’s more and more exciting.
“There is a great future at this place and I wouldn’t have signed if I didn’t see that. It’s a very good group of people, players who connect with each other, staff who connect with the players and we all have an idea of where we want to go, and hopefully we’ll achieve it.”

Where do you see the Club at the moment?
Christian: “I see the Club taking steps forward. I want to be part of that and luckily, the Club wants me to be part of it as well. I see a great future because as I said, we’re taking it step by step and it’s only going one way at the moment. I’m very happy to be here.”
It’s three years since you joined us, do you feel at home here and in London now?
Christian: “Yes, definitely, living in London, coming to the Training Centre every day is very calm and nice because I know everything around me. Of course, the league is exciting every season, everyone knows that, everyone follows (the league) and anything can happen. Playing in the Premier League, living in London, I can’t get much better.”

Eight players in this squad have played over 100 games for Spurs – the Club must mean a lot to you all…
Christian: “It does. Everyone knows the Club and if you’ve been here for a few years, you’ve played so many games and everyone is still here, everyone wants to be here, everyone wants to improve and everyone wants to win games.
"If you feel there is a good project ahead of you, you will take the chance to build on it and that’s what we’re doing at Spurs. There are eight players playing a lot of games and with that experience, you can only get better and better because none of us are that old yet!”

It’s a bit of a cliché, but is there a family feel to the Club?
Christian: “There is, you run into everyone every day, we’re here six, seven days a week and you go through all kinds of stuff with them all, of course, mostly football stuff and playing the games, travelling, you see everyone a lot and it is one big family, yes.”
And together, you’ve all experienced highs and lows - does that bind you all together?
Christian: “Definitely. Look, it’s never fun to lose but it helps if you come out the other side in a better mood and the experience, you definitely take that with you. We’ve done that. We know we could have finished stronger (last season) but we gave our all and now we have a chance to improve this season and hopefully it will be even better.”
