Christian Ziege insists he will wait until he is 100 per cent confident of his fitness before, once again, taking the Premiership plunge.
The German international did return to first team action in the final game of last season after the horror thigh injury he suffered on Boxing Day that required emergency surgery.
He began the pre-season preparations with the squad out in La Manga before playing a part in the encounters with Stevenage and Wycombe Wanderers. He felt, however, that all was not right with his thigh and his worst fears were confirmed when he was told he would need another operation.
This was successfully completed and, after a period of rehabilitation, he is now back at Spurs Lodge and hopes to be back training with the rest of the team this week.
"Last week I did just running - I want to make everything right. I have said this before, but it didn't work.
"You have to get on with it, it didn't work last time, but this time will be better.
"Maybe this week I can start training with the team and then be back on the pitch and looking forward."
