Christian: "I think we’re going one way - and that’s the right way"

Christian Eriksen feels the team is ‘on a good path’ as we prepare to return to Premier League action this weekend.

We travel to Selhurst Park for an always-testing meeting against Palace on Sunday.

It’s a stadium that holds good recent memories for Christian after his superb strike from distance proved the difference in a 1-0 win last season.

We go back to SE25 unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions and with just one loss in the last 19 having come through Premier League matches against United, Liverpool and Arsenal and our Champions League Round of 16 first leg at Juventus with flying colours.

“We started the season well, had a dip and now we’ve really built up again over the last few months,” said Christian.

“There is still everything to play for in the Champions League and getting seven points from the games against United, Liverpool and Arsenal was a great achievement and gives us a lot of confidence going forward.

“To come from 2-0 down against Juventus felt like a win, somehow. In the dressing room afterwards it felt like a big achievement, but we know we have to professional at Wembley because the second leg will be a different game.”

Our run of form at this time of year should come as no surprise as it’s been a theme of every season in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino.

In his first season, 2014-15, we lost one in 10 between 6 December-7 February, in 2015-16 we won six on the trot between 16 January and March 2 and last season, we won six on the trot between 14 December-11 February and then nine between 26 February-5 May.

“I heard something about that a few weeks ago,” said Christian. “Someone asked ‘are you going to go on a run now?’ and apparently, we are!

“I don’t know what it is about this time of year but it’s probably all about how we train - we work hard, especially in pre-season and we really pick up this time of year.

“All I know is the team feels very confident and we’re going in the right direction.”
