Christian: "Every game is the same - we have to win"

Mon 19 March 2018, 13:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen says the team is brimming with confidence as we hit the crucial final stage of the season.

The in-form playmaker is one of 17 first team squad members away on international duty over the next 10 days.

On their return, we have eight matches remaining as we bid for a place in the top four of the Premier League and an FA Cup semi-final date against Manchester United over the weekend of 21-22 April.

Christian struck twice as we booked our place in the last four with a fine 3-0 win against Swansea on Saturday.

That took his tally to 13 goals in all competitions as we've recovered from a hit against Juventus with a 4-0 win at Bournemouth and now 3-0 win at the Liberty Stadium. Indeed, we've lost one of 20 in all competitions.

"We going into every game with the feeling we can win," said Christian, who faces friendlies against Panama and Chile.

"We have to win. Every game is the same - we have to win, whether that's for three points or (in this case) going into the semi-finals. There are no other options and we go into every game at the moment with a lot of confidence."

Speaking before knowing we'd drawn United, Christian said of the draw. "We'll see who we draw and whoever it is, we're going to give a good fight to go through to the final."

Christian's opener was right out of the top drawer, a cracker with his left foot that sailed into the corner from 20 yards. He almost repeated the trick minutes later, only for Kristoffer Nordfeldt to touch the effort onto the crossbar and then hit another clean strike from the edge of the box for our third goal on 64 minutes.

It was suggested afterwards that we're almost coming to expect these fine goals. "Yes, that's bad, people expecting it!" he smiled. "No, of course it's good.

"I have a lot of confidence and the players have a lot of confidence. You can see that. You make an extra run because you know the ball will get there and that's how the feeling is in the team."
