The wing-back actually lost his starting place in the semi-final and final - he came off the bench to play the last 10 minutes of the final against Brazil - but nevertheless, team-mate and compatriot Steffen insists he will be full of confidence when he returns to the club.
Steffen explained: "Okay, he lost his place in the team when he was suspended and then for the semi-final and final but I'm sure he would have been happy just have been part of it.
"He can be proud of the part he played earlier in the tournament and be proud of how Germany played to get to the final.
"Tottenham can be proud as well of course because we can say that we had a player in the World Cup Final. Not many players can say they've done that and it's wonderful for Christian.
"I'm sure he'll be very confident when he comes back to Tottenham. I thought he played very well last season and he will be one of our key players again."
Steffen Freund says Spurs are bound to reap the benefits from Christian Ziege's World Cup exploits with Germany.
