Chris Hughton welcomes the tough double-header that kicks-off our pre-season friendly campaign in France on Thursday and Friday.

It all starts against Ligue I runners-up Bordeaux at Stade Olympique d'Albertville this evening followed by Nice at Stade Municipal d'Evian on Friday night. Both games kick-off at 7pm local time (6pm UK).

“This is very good opposition and it’s similar to the Peace Cup in South Korea last summer,†said Chris, recalling the successes against the likes of Real Sociedad, Boca Juniors and Lyon.

“We expect difficult games and that’s why we’ve picked this opposition.

“All three games out here are against top-quality sides (the third is against Celta Viga) and we feel, at this stage, they represent a thorough test for us.

“We also believe we’ll be a match for them all and at the end of the day, all the good things we think about them they’ll think about us as well.

“For us, the most important thing is that the lads come through the games okay, build up their fitness and don’t pick up injuries.

“With the UEFA Cup in mind playing against European opposition is something we want to get used to. These games can only be good for us.â€Â
