In a 20-year career in publishing Chris Hunt has edited numerous national magazines, producing nearly 600 weekly, fortnightly and monthly issues. He turned Match into Britain’s biggest-selling football magazine, pushing the title to sales of 242,000 copies a week at its peak and was the original launch editor of the world’s longest-running rap magazine, Hip-Hop Connection.
In addition to his prolific career in magazines, Hunt is also a distinguished journalist with many quality sports feature articles and books to his name.
Launched in September 2006, hotspur broke the mould of Club magazines, distancing itself from the more traditional football titles as a high-quality monthly publication, featuring the stylish, creative design trends more akin to Men’s lifestyle magazines.
“We are looking forward to working with Chris and delighted to welcome him to the team,” said John Fennelly, the Club’s Head of Publications. “A man of his publishing experience in and outside of the football arena will bring even more quality, experience and depth to the magazine.”
“A Club with Spurs’ heritage and prestige can offer fans so much more than match reports and player interviews,” said Chris Hunt. “There is massive potential to produce a magazine that reflects the people and passion of the Club and I am looking forward to growing the magazine’s copy content and readership alike.”
Since its inception, hotspur has proved very popular with fans and players alike adding an extra dimension to the Club, not found in match-day programmes or on the Club’s website – channels that traditionally focus on match-related stories.
