Despite a valiant effort by our very own Chirpy in his Mascot Grand National debut, Chaddy the Owl from Oldham FC became the first back-to-back winner of the Ladbrokes.com Mascot Grand National at Huntingdon Racecourse last Sunday.
Phoney Pony from Sedgefield Racecourse finished second, Peter Burrow from Peterborough United FC came in third with Chirpy a very respectable sixth!
The race wasn’t without incident! Not only did a streaker get on to the course but Ladbrokes avoided a massive payout as the major gamble on Sedge the Field Mouse (Sedgefield Racecourse) didn't land. He went from 66/1 to 2/1 when news broke that Sedge was in fact Allyn Condon from Runcorn, a Commonwealth Games 4 x 100 metres gold medallist!
Sedge the Field Mouse was however, easy prey for Chaddy the Owl who stormed home to reclaim his crown.
