Chelsea 1-3 Spurs - report from Stamford Bridge

Dele Alli struck twice and Christian Eriksen hit a wonder goal as we ended our Stamford Bridge hoodoo with a key victory in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs fans were again reminded of our record at Chelsea this week but we tore through that narrative with a second half performance deserving of the victory.

More importantly, the win took us eight points clear of Chelsea in fourth with only seven matches remaining in the Premier League. We're also back to two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand and we've stretched our unbeaten run to 13 matches, our second best sequence in the Premier League era.

Eriksen provided the key moment in first half added time. Chelsea took the lead through Alvaro Morata's header during their best spell on the half-hour but the great Dane unleashed a beauty that dipped over Willy Caballero to take us into half-time on level terms.

The second half was a different story as we took the game by the scruff of the neck with Dele showing what he's all about on his 100th Premier League appearance.

Two goals in four minutes took us out of reach. The first on 62 minutes, another beauty. Eric Dier picked out Dele's run between defenders, his first touch was magnificent to bring the ball under control before planting past the advancing Caballero.

The second started with Eriksen's turn around the corner to release Heung-Min Son. The South Korean darted into the box and was denied by Caballero but kept the ball alive and Dele was on hand to slot home for 3-1, sending the visiting fans into delirium - '28 years of hurt' ended in four minutes.

TEAM NEWS

The headline team news saw Harry Kane return from an ankle injury sustained at Bournemouth on March 11 to take his place on the bench. There were three changes to the starting line-up from our last match at Swansea in the FA Cup on March 17 - Hugo Lloris back in goal for Michel Vorm, Mousa Dembele for Moussa Sissoko and Dele for Lucas. It was Dele's 100th Premier League appearance for us.

KEY ACTION

HIGH-TEMPO START, DELE CHANCE - 1-15mins
There was very little space in the attacking areas as both teams closed down in all areas in the opening exchanges. Jan Vertonghen dragged a shot wide, Willian's shot was blocked and then the first chance as Eriksen faded a wonderful cross in from the right and Dele got between Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta but headed wide.

LLORIS SAVES, CHELSEA GOAL DISALLOWED - 18-28mins
Chelsea started to step it up. Lloris did well to turn away Willian's deflected drive on 18 minutes and the hosts had a goal disallowed when Marcos Alonso finished N'Golo Kante's cross a minute later, the flag up for off-side. Kieran Trippier lashed over from 25 yards but Lloris was needed again to deny Moses down to his right.

GOAL: CHELSEA 1-0 SPURS - ALVARO MORATA - 30mins
Chelsea's goal started with Antonio Rudiger's run out of defence and pass wide to Moses. He crossed from the right, Lloris was caught under the cross and Morata headed into the open net.

ERIKSEN CHANCES, LLORIS SAVE - 32-42mins
We started to step back into the game after Chelsea's goal. Caballero saved bravely 50-50 as Eriksen challenged for Dele's pass and the Dane started to find his range with a 30-yarder straight at the goalkeeper on 40 minutes. At the other end, Lloris got down well to turn away Alonso's drive.

GOAL: CHELSEA 1-1 SPURS - CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN - 45+1mins
Five minutes after testing Caballero, Eriksen struck gold. We won possession, Eriksen was found in space 35 yards out and he needed no second invitation to let fly, his shot dipping over the goalkeeper and home.

TAKING CONTROL - 46-61mins
We took control from the first whistle of the second half. Moses somehow cleared from Dele in front of goal on 53 minutes and Caballero produced the save of the match to tip over from Son on 61. In-between, Andreas Christensen glanced a header just wide.

GOAL: CHELSEA 1-2 SPURS - DELE ALLI - 62mins
Eric Dier picked up the ball centrally and lofted a quarterback-style pass into Dele's path. Dele killed the ball over his shoulder with a wonderful first touch before placing past Caballero.

GOAL: CHELSEA 1-3 SPURS - DELE ALLI - 66mins
Eriksen was involved again, this time clipping a pass around the corner to release Son away down the right. Son charged into the box but was denied by Caballero. Importantly, he kept the ball alive and Dele was on the scene to slot home from close range.

KANE RETURNS - SEEING THE GAME OUT - 67-90mins
Chelsea had three quickfire chances between 69-72 minutes - Fabregas fired just wide through a crowded box, Alonso missed the target off his left foot from 10 yards and Vertonghen slid in to make a big block as Fabregas got down the right byline with support in the middle. Kane then made his return from an ankle injury off the bench for Son on 73 minutes. From there, we took the sting out of the game, defended when we needed to and enjoyed that final whistle!

"It's great - it's always nice to win so I'm feeling good. We weren't concentrating on (the poor record at Stamford Bridge) going into the game. Every game is different, we knew if we performed well we've got quality players and we could win the game. It wasn't easy - obviously to go 1-0 down, we had to pick ourselves up from that and that strike from Chris just before half-time gave us real belief going into the second half."
