We will face Charlton in the third round of the FA Cup after the Addicks beat Luton Town 3-1 in Thursday night's second round replay.

The League One side had to come from 1-0 down to beat the Blue Square Premier title-challengers at Kenilworth Road. Ex-Spur Johnnie Jackson was one of Charlton's goalscorers.

We now meet the team from The Valley at White Hart Lane on Sunday, January 9. We kick-off at 1.30pm.

Any potential replay date for this third round tie will be confirmed in due course. The match has not be selected for live TV coverage.

Jermain Defoe said the club should take pride in topping Group A of the Champions League.

The striker was back on the scoresheet as we drew our final group match 3-3 against Dutch champions FC Twente on Tuesday night.

‘JD’ netted twice as we led three times only to get pegged back on every occasion at the Grolsch Veste Stadium.

A point was more than enough to secure top spot though as Werder Bremen topped Inter Milan 3-0 in Germany.

“It’s great to top the group, it’s just what we wanted to do,” said Jermain, naturally delighted with his first goals since August after his injury lay-off.

“We’ve come a long way as a team and everyone should be proud of themselves, to be honest.

“We all worked hard to be here in the first place, and then to play the games how we have, scoring all the goals and to win the group, it’s been brilliant for everyone at the club.”

JD admitted it was ‘a little frustrating’ not to finish the group stages with a win, not least after leading 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2.

Twente, beaten just twice domestically this term, hit back every time with four goals in the space of 17 minutes in the second half.

“It was one of those games with ups and downs, we scored, thought we win the game but then they’d hit back,” he said.

“We managed to score, but it was frustrating how we conceded the three goals. The manager wasn’t happy with that. But we’ve topped the group and everyone’s delighted.”

Meanwhile, JD looked back to his best in front of goal with a clinical finish from Aaron Lennon’s pass to make it 2-1 and then pouncing on a rebound from Wilson Palacios’ shot to make it 3-2.

“I feel great,” he added. “I’m getting stronger and stronger with each game and it’s important to get that match fitness and sharpness.”

It was great. It’s what we wanted to do. It’s always nice to score but the main aim was to win and top the group, so that was fantastic. We’ve come a long way as a team and everyone should be proud of themselves, to be honest. We’ve all worked hard to be here in the first place, and then to play the games how we have, scoring all the goals and to win the group, it’s been brilliant for everyone at the club.

It’s a little frustrating. It was one of those games with ups and downs, we scored, thought we win the game but then they’d hit back. To top the group is a great achievement.

When we got the second goal I thought they would come forward and we’d have chances on the break. We’re good at that with the players we’ve got, the pace in the team and we did that, managed to score the goals, but frustrating how we conceded the three goals. The manager wasn’t happy with that. We’ve topped the group and everyone’s delighted.

I said before the competition kicked-off that we had a good chance and we could do well. It’s our first time in the competition and like I said, everyone should be proud. We’ve put the work in and now we look forward to the next round. This is where it gets exciting and it’s so nice to be in there, playing Champions League football. It’s the best competition to play in and we want to stay in it as long as possible. Those midweek nights are brilliant, the fans love them and we want to keep it going.

That’s important as well, sometimes it’s difficult after Champions League matches but we have to re-focus and regroup for Chelsea. It’s a massive game against a good side. Okay, they aren’t playing as well at the moment but I believe they can just switch it on. It will be tough but we’re at home, we’re playing well and hopefully we’ll get the three points.

I feel great. Each game I’m getting stronger and stronger and it’s important to get that match fitness and sharpness.

Delighted but it would have been better if we'd won the game. The first half was ok, we started bright and got the early goal. Second half we eased off a little bit. It would have been nice if we'd actually won the game but we will take this.

We worked so hard last season to make the CL, and when you are here you have to make the most of it. This is the best competition to play in. We have scored a lot of goals but I think it is also important not to concede that many so it was frustrating that we conceded three goals tonight but we have topped the group so everyone is delighted.

We will take each game as it comes. We have got important league games coming up now but you never know. I think the way we are playing and the amount of goals we score, we create a lot of chances, and we still have one or two injuries to come back so you never know but everything is looking good at the moment.
