The midfielder opened the scoring and completed 65 minutes of our 3-2 win at Brisbane Road.
It was his first match action since scoring on his debut for the reserves on August 31 and follows an ankle injury sustained in training at the start of September.
Development coach Clive Allen reported: "It was good to see Michael come through the game. He reported no ill effects after the game and we'll now see how he his tomorrow morning.
"That was a pleasing aspect of the afternoon's work."
We were always in front in the match - Michael opening the scoring with further goals from Eddie Silva Sousa and Rohan Ricketts.
Clive added: "Michael scored the first goal, a good break from midfield, he was played in on the edge of the box and finished well.
"Eddie followed in on a cross that hit the post and tapped in the second and the third was a nicely taken goal from Rohan Ricketts, a left-foot curler into the top corner.
"We scored three but I would have liked to have seen us finish a few more of the chances we created and I'm disappointed we conceded goals because it's always nice to keep clean sheets. But there is always something to take out of these games."
Michael Carrick made a goalscoring return to action in a private friendly against Leyton Orient this afternoon.
