Michael Carrick has been named in the England starting X1 for the friendly international against Uruguay on Wednesday night.

Michael Carrick has been named in the England starting X1 for the friendly international against Uruguay on Wednesday night.

The midfield pass-master is awarded his third start for England - his first since the summer tour to the USA - and it will be his fifth cap. Michael will partner Steven Gerrard in central midfield, with David Beckham and Joe Cole operating on the flanks.

Paul Robinson will start the match at Anfield, winning his 18th full international cap.

England team v Uruguay: Robinson, Neville, Terry, Ferdinand, Bridge, Beckham, Carrick, Gerrard, Cole, Bent, Rooney.
