Michael Carrick explained that the 'good vibes' he received from Jermain Defoe made it an easy decision to join Spurs.
The midfielder completes a trio of recent recruits from West Ham, following on from Fredi Kanoute and Jermain, and he tips the prolific front man to become one of the finest in the trade.
"He is different class and will honestly be one of the best around - if he isn't now," said Michael, who made a goalscoring start of his own against West Ham for the reserves on Tuesday. "Three years down the line he will really be something very special.
"I have witnessed his abilities before at West Ham and I know what he is capable of.
"He gave me good vibes about the club and, when I spoke to him before joining, he said it is great to be here. I am delighted to be part of it now and be part of a squad with the calibre of players we have here.
"Just training with the lads every day is going to improve me as a player."
