Having not featured in a game this season, the midfielder pulled on a Spurs shirt for the first time proper against his former side at Broadhall Way and was certainly the impressive figure in the middle of the park, dictating the play before striking a sweet goal on 17 minutes - a lead later to be doubled by Goran Bunjevcevic.
"It was good, for the first 10 to 15 I was a little bit ring-rusty, but I enjoyed it and getting a goal was nice," reflected Michael afterwards. "The lads played well and it was enjoyable.
"I was blowing a bit at first, but in the second half I felt fine. I think it was just the initial bit and after that I got going, which was good."
Of course, wasn't it just typical that West Ham would provide the opposition for his first game in our colours - although none of them gave him a little kick!
"They are all good mates of mine and there was a bit of banter flying around. I just enjoyed and it was good to be playing again. They are too nice to kick me.
"I've got to make the most of it and was happy to get a goal - as they don't come along very often!
"I'm fit and have been training for about nine weeks now. All I need is games now and I'll be happy."
Michael Carrick was delighted to get his Spurs career underway with a goalscoring performance against West Ham for the reserves on Tuesday evening.
