Kasey Keller says that a move to Spurs would the perfect platform for Bobby Convey to progress his career at a higher level.

A USA international teammate of Kasey's, Convey is poised for a switch to the Lane subject to a work permit being granted. The 20-year-old put on the style in two encounters with Spurs in the last year and the seasoned Kasey confirms that he is certainly one the bright young things of the American game.

"He is definitely one of the bright young kids coming up and I think this would be the perfect platform for him to move forward," he stated, adding that Convey's abilities need a bigger stage.

"Sometimes you can get stale in places and you don't want to get stuck in a situation where it is too easy - this would definitely push him onto that next level.

"He's a left-sided versatile player who can play at left-back, midfield or wing-back. He is extremely hard working, who will run all day for you, overlap and chase the ball.

"He would give us a lot of energy on that left side."

Confederations Cup duty saw both players enjoy a busy summer for the USA national team and Kasey says the youngster coped well.

"He did some good things and he's just a 20-year-old. Games were coming fast and furious and he was away a long time. He was very good over the summer and, like I said, this would be a great progression for him to come here for a great challenge and to push himself that much harder."
