The outstanding Irish defender played 55 minutes at Gillingham on Saturday and followed up with 72 minutes at QPR on Sunday.
Named in the PFA's Premiership team in 2000-01, Stephen missed all of last season, including the World Cup, as he battled against a knee injury.
It's a battle he appears to be winning at the moment.
"I'm delighted with Stephen," beamed Glenn at Loftus Road. "He played 55 minutes at Gillingham and we were only going to give him 45 minutes at QPR but he looked so sharp and good.
"We kept asking him and asking him and in the end we said 'you tell us when you feel ready'. I thought we'd take him to about 70 minutes and he made a couple of runs and eventually said enough was enough.
"It's great news for us because he's looking sharp and he's been out for a whole season and it's great to see the lad back again."
Few fans would argue that the return of Stephen Carr has been one of the highlights of pre-season - Glenn Hoddle has certainly liked what he has seen so far.
