John Cameron, a legendary figure in our history, has been nominated as a potential inductee into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

The nomination has been made by Keith Harrison of India Spurs, our official supporters’ club on the sub continent.

Keith was recently successful in having our former goalkeeper Bill Brown’s name similarly added to Scotland’s roll of honour.
Cameron was born in Ayr and joined us from Everton in May, 1898.

He was already a Scottish international by then and had played a major role in the establishment of the Association Footballers’ Union, forerunner to the current Professional Footballers’ Association.

An articulate and intelligent man, as well as an accomplished inside-forward, John's versatility enabled him to serve us as player-manager-secretary!

He led us to our historic 1901 FA Cup success, scoring in the final, and was clearly an exceptionally talented individual in all that he did.

Other former Spurs players already inducted include Alan Gilzean, Steve Archibald, Richard Gough, John White, Dave Mackay, Graeme Souness and former coach Joe Jordan.
