The midfielder's last match action was for Ivory Coast against Serbia & Montenegra in the World Cup but although he swapped the 60,000-plus Allianz Arena for the cosier surroundings of Milton Road, there was no less effort from the 25-year-old who covered every blade of grass in his first half stint.
He was joined by fellow World Cup participants Lee Young-Pyo and Aaron Lennon in the line-up and the South Korean stole the show in that first period with a delightfully-executed opening goal.
Both Zokora and Lee were replaced at the interval but Lennon stayed on for a full 90-minute shift after playing the first half of the Spurs XI's 8-1 win at Bishop's Stortford on Wednesday.
Having scored a wonderful goal that night, Lennon left his shooting boots at home on this occasion, skying a couple of decent chances into the trees behind the goal in the second half before seeing Alan Calton deny him one-on-one with time running out.
Once again, the lads dominated possession but this time came up against a stout defence as City threw themselves in at everything, chased, harried and closed down for all their worth.
Indeed, it took a fine goal to open the scoring after 38 minutes when Lennon, Dawkins and finally O'Hara were involved in the move that led to O'Hara playing in YP Lee down the left and the full-back curled into the far corner from the edge of the box.
It stayed that was until the hour mark and another well-crafted goal. Tommy Forecast threw out to Dawkins, he fed Barcham who burst over half-way before playing the ball wide to Chris Riley, he drilled in a low pass that Dawkins stepped over to allow Barcham to collect and drive low past Danny Naisbitt.
Naisbitt and his late replacement Calton then made sure it stayed at 2-0 - Naisbitt touching the impressive O'Hara's effort wide before Calton denied Lennon late on.
