The young England goalkeeper guested for the home side at Broadhall Way and excelled against his team-mates.
'Burchy' looked confident throughout in our 2-0 win with the pick of his saves a full-length dive to fingertip away a Christian Ziege effort bound for the top corner.
Assistant boss John said afterwards: "It could have been more in the first half if it wasn't for such a good goalkeeping display from our own Robert Burch.
"It would have been a big thing for him playing against so many of the first team and an ordeal in many way, he could have been onto a hiding for nothing. But he came out with flying colours."
The situation came about after chat in the gynmasium in our recent training camp in La Manga - Stevenage were at the resort at the same time.
John explained: "Myself and Chris Hughton were in the gym in La Manga with Graham Westley, Stevenage's manager, and he told us that they were going out to get a goalkeeper.
"I told him we had two great keepers in Shwan Jalal and Burchy so we had Jalal on the bench for us and Burch played for them. He certainly did well."
John Gorman was delighted with the performance of one of the opposition at Stevenage Borough last night - our own Rob Burch!
