Yugoslavian star ‘Bunje’ has been the country just over two weeks following his move from Red Star Belgrade but he has taken to his new life, both on and off the pitch, admirably.
“It is difficult because I am only in London for a few days,” he said. “I’m in a hotel at the moment but all the guys help me.
“My family is not here but hopefully soon they will come. That will be satisfying for me.
“It is difficult but I’ve come here to succeed and perhaps I have to do something difficult to succeed later.
“But this is a great club and they think of everything, whatever I need, they are there for me. I feel comfortable and at home in England.”
And as he comes to terms with life off the pitch, he is also learning a whole new ball game on it.
He added: “We have talked a lot about football. I’m learning a lot in England about movements, defenders, attackers.
“That is most important for me now to see and then transfer it onto the pitch.
“To see the game, the movements and see what I must do. I must learn to speak some phrases now on the pitch.”
Goran Bunjevcevic says he already feels at home in England — even though he has to cope with his family being miles away.
