The midfielder is back from two injuries - a broken bone in his foot sustained last season and an ongoing stomach problem that was rectified in the summer.
Coach Clive Allen is looking to build on last week's positive start and 4-1 win against Watford.
Clive said: "As it's an international week there are probably five players away who might have been involved but the team looks balanced, the lads trained well on Sunday and of course it's good to see Michael Brown back.
"He's raring to go, you know what you are going to get from Michael and he's also looking forward to playing his part.
"We made a good start last week, played well in patches and we know that we now need to be more consistently more controlled in possession against side like Chelsea.
"It's a good game and we'll have to be at our best to get something out of it."
