Michael Brown revealed his pain at having to leave the field early against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The tigerish midfielder sustained a heavy blow to the top of his foot and is now awaiting final results from scans to determine the extent of the injury.
"It was right on half-time actually, I hit the ball and Nicky Butt came over me and I hit the bottom of his studs," recalled Michael. "It was a little bit sore, we had a look at half-time and thought it would be okay, but once we went back out I knew it wouldn't last. I was limping around and had to come off.
"I was quite enjoying the game and it was disappointing. It was a good game to be involved in and we were playing quite well. I hate coming off, it is awful to come off with an injury and I hope it is not long term.
"We've got some big games coming up and have got to keep going. It will be a big game on Saturday against Liverpool and we need to get some points from it.
Michael's injury could well open the door for Sean Davis to stake his claim for a place in the starting X1 and he knows this is the nature of football.
"It is, obviously Sean has been out injured and it has been a real tough season for him. It is good to see him back and he just needs some games.
"He has done fantastically to get back and you can see the hard work he does every day."
