The pair have been team-mates twice in their careers – at Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic – but they could come face-to-face as opponents in this Barclays Premier League clash.
And Darren knows only too well how tough an afternoon our defence will be given by a striker he feels is one of the most hard-working around.
But despite such high praise, Spurs’ Bent has clarified the pair are not related – even though the odd mix-up is a frequent occurrence!
Darren revealed: “It happens all the time. People say to me ‘how’s your brother?’ and I say ‘I haven’t got a brother’ but they mean Marcus! Either that or they call him Darren and me Marcus!
“We get it all the time but we’re not related, although I think somewhere down the line our families come from the same part of Jamaica.”
He continued: “Marcus is a good finisher, he’s got a good touch and he works hard – I think that’s something a lot of people don’t give him credit for. He used to do all of my running at Charlton!
“He always seems to score and if he gets a consistent run in the team he will always get you goals. I think that’s the key to Marcus as well as any striker. If you play a number of games consecutively you will score goals.”
