Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Today's game is the first ever meeting between the two clubs in the FA Cup.

Brighton's last visit here was in the old first division on December 28, 1982 when goals from Chris Hughton and Ricky Villa gave us a 2-0 victory. The crowd figure was 23,994. Steve Gatting and Gerry Ryan scored in a 2-1 Albion victory in the return game on April 2, 1983, Graham Roberts replying for us.

The only previous cup tie was in the 1982-83 League Cup second round when Garry Brooke (penalty) and Tony Grealish scored in the first leg here with Garth Crooks netting the decisive goal of the second leg at the Goldstone Ground.

Guy Butters, now aged 35, started his career here with a two year stint as a Trainee from July, 1986. Upgraded to professional in August, 1988, he went on to score once in 39 senior appearances for us between November, 1988 and October, 1989 and had a loan spell with Southend before moving on to Portsmouth for a £375,000 fee during September, 1990. He also served Oxford United (on loan) and Gillingham until joining Brighton in August, 2002. Had a loan spell with Barnet between March and May, 2003.
