Our evergreen goalkeeper, whose penalty shootout heroics against Hull City in the last round saw us book our place in the last eight of the competition, is highly motivated ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with West Ham United.
The American knows victory at the Lane will put us through into the two-legged semi-finals – and he’s confident we can go all the way.
“There’s a lot of good teams left in the competition and, as you can see, more and more teams are putting stronger and stronger teams out in the Capital One Cup,” enthused Brad, who was also between the sticks for our 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa earlier in the competition.
“It will be very difficult but, yes, we’re confident that we can hopefully raise the trophy.”
Brad has already won the trophy once – he was part of the Blackburn Rovers side that beat us in the final in 2002 – and he spoke of how a good cup run can have a positive impact on the domestic side of things.
“When I won it with Blackburn, we had only got into the Premier League the season before,” the keeper recalled.
“We ended up finishing in about ninth or 10th position that year – we went on a really good run after the cup final so it obviously gave the whole club a lot of confidence to go forward.”
