Glenn Hoddle says that it is vital the team maintain the momentum achieved against Leeds when they take on Liverpool at Anfield tonight.
The boss reasons that, with the home side chasing their first win after defeat to Chelsea and a draw with Aston Villa, they could be more fired up than usual in the quest for victory.
He insists we must be ready for that and try and build on the excellent victory at the weekend.
"It is Liverpool Football Club and when you go to Anfield you always know you are going to get a very difficult game," pondered Glenn.
"They've got a passionate crowd and, what we've got to watch, is that they might be up for it even more with chasing their first win.
"We've got to maintain our momentum and go there with that mentality. It is going to be a very difficult game, they will add to their performance to try and get that win, and we've got to be ready for that.
"Saying that, if the game is dealt with well by us - certainly in the first half - pressure can build up on home teams and that is something we've got to think about."
Glenn added that the win over Leeds provided a welcome lift after the disappointment of no reward from the opening day of the season.
"When you are playing well and creating chances you are happy. I did say after Birmingham, if we kept performing like that, we'd get a win and that is how it has panned out.
"We've been happy with the way we've been performing, it was just a case of getting that elusive first win under our belt. We managed to get that and we have an extra spring in our step. The spirit in the camp has been excellent.
"They were fantastic goals against Leeds and that is what home fans like to see. We could have had more, I felt, but Tano's goal was sensational - an extra special goal. With Fredi taking his debut chance we scored two goals that excite people.
"We've got to come back down to earth now and prepare for a hard game up at Anfield."
