Bongani Khumalo described it as 'a dream' to return to South Africa as a Spurs player.
The defender is part of the squad that landed in Johannesburg on Thursday and is now preparing for the Vodacom Challenge.
Bongani lifted South Africa's PSL title in three-successive seasons with our club partner SuperSport United before joining us in January.
Now he's back on home soil and up against familiar foe - Kaizer Chiefs at Polokwane this afternoon (Saturday, July 23) and Orlando Pirates, who took the PSL crown in May, in Nelspruit on Tuesday. We play the final against either Chiefs or Pirates back in Johannesburg on Saturday week, July 23.
"It's a dream to come back and play for Spurs in South Africa," said Bongani, a regular for Bafana Bafana and a goalscorer at last summer's World Cup.
"I remember when Spurs first came over (we toured SA in 2003 and 2007), I was young at the time and to now be on the other side is something special and I'm looking forward to it.
"The matches will be competitive. The Chiefs and Pirates will be fully committed even though it's a pre-season tournament.
"The players will be highly-motivated by the prospect of facing Spurs and the chance to play against some of the world's top players.
"The stadiums will be buzzing - we'll be hearing those horns again!"
Bongani knows the Chiefs and Pirates players will be determined to prove their worth against us.
"They would all love the opportunity (to play in the Premier League), they all dream of it and I'm very fortunate to be in that position," he added.
"That's why I make sure I work hard each and every day."
