Bongani Khumalo described his first few months at Spurs and making his debut in English football as 'a great experience'.
The South African international defender joined from our club partner SuperSport United following a successful trial in January.
He was an unused substitute on three occasions in the Premier League in February before being loaned out to Championship side Preston North End for the rest of the season in March.
Bongani impressed in six matches as Preston fought against relegation but his season was cut short when he suffered a fractured metatarsal against Millwall in April.
“It was a great experience to play my first matches in England,” reflected Bongani, who starred for South Africa at the World Cup last June.
“I worked hard at Spurs with all the coaches, got used to the environment, the players and conditions and it was great to get a test of all I’d learned at Preston.
“I did all I could, but my loan spell was cut short through injury.”
Bongani was back at Spurs Lodge last week continuing his rehabilitation. “Everything’s on track,” he beamed.
“I’ve been running again and that felt good. I’ve missed that feeling! I’m getting stronger and stronger and building up my fitness again.”
