Birthday, TJ and snakes!

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

FIRST OF all, a few pictures from Monday morning's training session.

The lads put in a real shift under the morning California sun before moving into the gymnasium.

They were also scheduled for another football session this afternoon - look out for our latest 'Spurs in America' update for the full rundown.

IN AN ideal world, Gareth Bale would rather his 21st birthday be kept a secret from the rest of his team-mates.

Unfortunately, this isn't an ideal world, and he woke to breakfast on Friday with the words 'Happy 21st, Gareth!' plastered all over the noticeboard in the dining room.

It would appear though that the popular defender got away with it as Xtra hasn't uncovered anything sinister that might have happened.

He was even presented with a cake after dinner along with Andros Townsend, who shares the same birthday.

Gareth did admit to Xtra on Saturday that he was somewhat wary once the cat was out of the bag. "If I'd got wind of anything going on I'd have slid my wardrobe over the door of my room," he said.

24 ACTOR TJ Ramini travelled from LA to San Jose to watch his beloved Spurs play the Earthquakes on Saturday.

He arrived at our hotel on Saturday morning and went to the gym, where he bumped into Vedran Corluka.

It turns out that 'Charlie' is a huge fan of 24, and recognised the former Bill and Casualty actor straight away.

"I've just bumped into Vedran and I can't believe he recognised me," said TJ.

"I'm the one who is meant to be the fan around here!"

THE LADS had Sunday afternoon off after a recovery session from Saturday's friendly against San Jose.

Golf and a trip to San Francisco were available, so 10 in the travelling party went off to play golf, the rest went to San Francisco.

Xtra had the honour of joining Carlo Cudicini, Ossie Ardiles and Clive Allen for a fourball around Coyote Creek GC, about a 20-minute drive from San Jose.

All drives on the first hole landed in or around a cunningly-placed area of rough across the middle of the fairway - a feature of a lovely course.

Clive dived in to find his and Ossie's balls and after less than a minute's searching, came out with about a dozen.

A couple of holes later and Carlo clipped a nice-looking shot that went over the green and into some more rough and scrubland. This time there was no luck but again, there were a few other balls scattered around in easy reach.

Just behind the green, a pair of locals waited to tee off, so the search for Carlo's ball was halted to allow them to continue.

Clive got talking to them and, as it turns out, there is a reason why there are plenty of balls in the rough.

"One of them told me that they don't bother looking for balls when the lose them," he said. "And that's because you might come across a rattlesnake in the thicker stuff! I wondered why there were so many balls lying around!"

Suffice to say, the next wayward ball stayed lost!
