Kevin Bond feels Sunday's win at Wigan could be a ‘significant' one for us.
Jermain Defoe's opener in the first half followed by Roman Pavlyuchenko's double off the bench in the second half secured the three points and lifted us back into fourth in the Barclays Premier League.
The nature of the victory particularly pleased the management as the lads rolled their sleeves up on a heavy pitch and scrapped it out against a team fighting against relegation.
"People had been suggesting that we hadn't been doing as well as we might have done recently so it was important that we put on a performance and on a difficult night, in difficult conditions, I thought we did exactly that," said assistant boss Kevin.
"It was great to get a win on the road like that. It was a big win and we need to keep performing well, getting results and the rest will take care of itself."
Roman stole the headlines with his late double and Kevin was delighted to see the Russian striker make his mark at the DW Stadium.
"He trained really well last week and the manager always had it in the back of his mind that he would introduce him at some stage at Wigan," he added. "He came on, made a real impact and he's no doubt given the manager plenty to think about."
