The Under-15 team of SuperSport United, our Academy partners from South Africa, have been training at Spurs Lodge this week ahead of the prestigious Nike Cup in Manchester.
SuperSport booked their place in the finals via the African qualifiers and join 19 other clubs from five continents in the 20-team finals starting on Sunday, August 3 and going through to August 6.
Academy manager John McDermott explained: "The Nike Cup is a worldwide tournament at Under-15 level that all the top Academies in England compete in qualifiers at Warwick every year and the winners go through to the finals, this year held in Manchester.
"SuperSport qualified via the African leg, so they've travelled over as African champions.
"Hopefully, they will have seven matches in total in the tournament with the last one staged at Old Trafford.
"It's great to see how these kids are moving on with the good coaching in South Africa and to qualify was excellent.
"We had a match against them this week which ended in a draw and their performance impressed me.
"We've trained with them this week at Spurs Lodge and we've been working on being clinical so they capitalise on their excellent build-up play and technical ability. They are a talented squad and we wish them all the best in Manchester.
