Aaron Lennon is relishing the prospect of stepping out onto one of European football’s biggest stages tonight.
The winger knows our Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid will be the experience of a lifetime – and he is keen to make the most of it.
‘Azza’ admits to having a great deal of respect for the La Liga giants but expects nothing less than another fearless Spurs performance at the Bernabeu.
He said: “Playing in the Bernabeu will definitely be my biggest European experience. I’ve heard it’s one of the best stadiums to play at. Some of the England lads have told me it’s THE best stadium in the world to play at – I can’t wait.
“I watch Real most Sunday nights on TV. They’ve got some great players – Ronaldo obviously stands out, Karim Benzema’s on form at the minute and so is Mesut Ozil, who was quality at the World Cup.
“But we’ve got an attacking manager and he wants us to play good football. He wants us to get it wide, get it into the front men and use what we have – and that’s speed and a lot of skill. We’ll attack, that’s all we know.”
