The midfielder was robbed of his 14th goal of the season when his near-post header from Darren Anderton's corner came back off the crossbar in the 1-1 draw at the Riverside.

Gus recalled: "It was my only chance to get the other side of Gareth Southgate, who was very marking very tight and it's diffcult to even get half-a-yard to get the ball.
"When I headed it I thought it was good, after it hit the crossbar I thought 'oh no, here we go again'. That's football I suppose.
"We know if we keep creating, keep getting in there and getting the chances then we will score."
Gus admitted the lads were disappointed not take maximum points and a hat-trick of wins in the north-east having already toppled Sunderland and Newcastle.
"We had the better chances," he said. "They had more possession especially through Carbone, who looked sharp, but the thing is to create chances. We weren't as lucky as last Sunday, so yes, we are a little disappointed."
