Brownie, who misses out on direct combat with the England international on Saturday due to a foot injury, believes the Liverpool man is best, bar none!
"He is No.1, simple as that for me - he is different class," reasoned the player who made his Spurs debut in the win over Liverpool at the Lane last season.
"He does everything with pace and power. He has got everything in his game and seems to be a winner as well," he added, saying Gerrard has pushed ahead - in his opinion - of the likes of Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira.
"I do now, at this stage in his career I definitely put him ahead at the moment."
Meanwhile, Michael reserved some of his praise for his own midfield teammate Simon Davies, who returned from injury against Newcastle last weekend and turned in a fine performance.
"Simon played well and had been struggling with his shin and calf so hadn't trained that much. He did fantastically, he had a rest against Birmingham, was ready to go and did really well.
"He is a great player and once he gets going he does well. The way we were playing, everyone was closing down together and I thought it was a good sign for us."
Michael Brown is in no doubt when it comes to assessing where Steven Gerrard stands in the Premiership's midfield pecking order.
